Believe it or not, all forms of pollution are either directly or indirectly caused by us humans. Simple things like the use of electricity, transportation as well as using home fuels results in pollution. The predominant causes of air pollution are the burning of oil, coal, gasoline etc.
Some statistics
As per statistics, it is estimated that a regular family residing in the US causes as much as 56 tons of climate change pollution cause by burning carbon dioxide or CO2. The amount of ozone pollution cause is estimated at around 458 pounds by a US based family. Pollution that is caused due to toxic lead rests at around 1.2 ounces while toxic pollution cause from mercury rests at around 0.8 ounces.
Which gases causes pollution?
There are a number of culprits when it comes to the primary pollution forms. Excess ozone in the atmosphere has been known to not only cause health problems like asthma, infections, aging of lung tissue etc. but this pollution cause has also been known to damage crops and reduce overall visibility too. Nitrogen Oxide is another major pollution cause which can result in lung damage in humans, along with other respiratory problems. As far as the environment goes, this gas can cause acid rains which damages land and vegetation very badly. Carbon monoxide which is usually emitted from motor vehicles can inhibit the body’s natural ability to bring oxygen to the tissues. Thus, this pollution cause can often result in choking or asphyxiation. Then there are those tiny particles formed as a result of chemical reactions in the environment. These occur because of instances like burning of wood, fuels or diesel etc. This pollution cause results in severe irritation in eyes, lungs, throat etc. while also causing atmospheric haze and discoloring buildings and structures. Besides this predominant pollution cause, there are other gases and materials too which causes pollution. Materials like lead, mercury, as well as sulfur dioxide can result in heavy damage to our environment.
